James Franco: Helping Students in the Nation's Capital

Looking a bit tuckered out after a long flight, James Franco was spotted arriving in Washington, D.C. on Thursday afternoon (March 31).

The ?127 Hours? stud quickly threw on his shades at the sight of the paparazzi en route to offer up D.C. residents with ?An Evening with James Franco? - which is an "event which will include food and discussion while being held at the Hotel Monaco and benefiting free student programming at 826DC."

As his career shows no signs of slowing down, it was recently announced that Franco will be working with Mila Kunis in an upcoming film called, ?Oz the Great and Powerful.?

Of working with the ?Black Swan? actress, Franco told MTV News, "I?ve done two small things with her. I?ve done something for Funny Or Die, a spoof of 'The Hills' TV show, and then we did a little scene in 'Date Night.' She?s great, I love working with her."

Franco also recently sat down with David Letterman and shared his thoughts about being accused of getting stoned before hosting this year?s Academy Awards.

James denied smoking pot, but justified his mellow demeanor by telling, "I love her, but ... I think the Tasmanian Devil would look stoned standing next to Anne Hathaway. I haven't watched it back. Maybe I had low energy. I honestly played those lines as well as I could."

Nicki Minaj's Lil Wayne Lap Dance Nervousness

A funny thing happened to Nicki Minaj on Sunday (March 27) during the "I Am Still Music" tour when she headed to give a lucky fan a lap dance - her boss, Lil Wayne , ran from backstage at the Long Island, New York's Nassau Coliseum and plopped down in the seat.

The Pink Friday star's showstopping move suddenly turned into a must-see moment, as she told press afterwords: "Well, I have to say, I been giving lap dances [during the tour], but I didn't know Wayne was gonna jump out and pop out the back. I literally was up there trying to get a boy, then I turn around and I see this cute little dread in the chair with his legs dangling off. And I was like, 'What?' I was super nervous."

After a few quick pelvic thrusts in front of Weezy, Nicki smiled, then returned to her dancers to resume their choreography.

The affair was one of the evening's highlights, but ultimately, it proved to be more nightclub than gentleman's club. "It's just the essence of a lap dance," Manaj said of her routine. "Now, the down and dirty? Uh uh, not yet."

NKOTBSB Release 'Don't Turn Out The Lights' Single

Group first teased the song back in December and are set to tour together this summer.

The Backstreet Boys have finally quit playing games with their fans' hearts. After giving a sneak peek of their first collaborative single with the New Kids on the Block — whom they'll be hitting the road with for a massive tour this summer — called "Don't Turn Out the Lights," NKOTBSB have now released the song in its entirety.

The peppy pop number, complete with synthesizers and the obligatory name-drop ("NKOTBSB," they announce at the beginning of the track), which was produced by Eman and written by Claude Kelly, features the sing-along chorus, "So don't turn out the lights now, lights now, lights now/ 'Cause in a minute we'll be feeling like never before/ So don't turn out the lights now, lights now, lights now/ I'll be whatever you need and more."

Vocals by members of both groups — BSB Nick Carter's and NKOTB's Jordan Knight's contributions are easily recognized — are featured on the three-and-a-half-minute dance-ready song, which sounds like a modern version of their hits from the '80s and '90s (think Jason Derulo). Likely to strike a chord with hard-core fans, the song is about rekindling a romance that's begun to fizzle: "I know we haven't been getting along at all/ I don't think that it's time ... I don't wanna say goodbye/ 'Cause just when I think it through/ The memories come flooding back/ It's like instantly I love you like that."

"Don't Turn Out the Lights" is the debut single off NKOTBSB's first album together, a self-titled record slated to drop on May 24.

As promised recently by Knight, in addition to "Don't Turn Out the Lights," the Backstreet Boys will "record probably a couple more songs with" New Kids.

Since it's not the first time the groups have performed music together (they memorably did a mash-up of New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys songs during the 2010 American Music Awards), it seems they've built a good rapport with one another. The guys are ready to share the stage to perform hits from both groups' repertoires as well as new songs like "Don't Turn Out the Lights."

"It's gonna be nonstop back-and-forth action. We're really gonna play off each other," Knight explained.

What do you think of NKOTBSB's "Don't Turn Out the Lights"? Tell us in the comments.

'Sucker Punch' Secrets Revealed!

MTV News spoke with filmmaker Zack Snyder and the cast about the making of the fantastical battle movie.
By Kara Warner

At long last, Zack Snyder's mysterious, "Alice in Wonderland With Machine Guns" film "Sucker Punch" has arrived in theaters. MTV News has been on the case since its humble beginnings, bringing you all the news, videos, scoops and interviews ... in a nutshell, everything you need to know.

To celebrate the film's opening day, we present a few more fun facts about the film that we learned directly from the film's director/writer Zack Snyder and the cast.

1. Snyder's original plan for the movie was to build it around a big musical number.
"I had this idea that it'd be cool if we used the musical number for the spine of the movie or the spine of the action sequence," Snyder told MTV News. "And then getting in and out of it would be like, the music would start and that would draw us in. That would be the sort of mechanism for the fantasy to begin, and when the music ended, that would be the mechanism for it ending. And that was sort of how it started."

2. Inspiration for the look of the film came from the adult fantasy magazine Heavy Metal.
"I still read it, actually," Snyder said. "It's got little short stories in it and they're illustrated. And so it's like a comic strip that has more sex and violence than you would get from a normal comic book," Snyder said, adding that he started reading the magazine in his youth. "I think it influenced this movie in a pretty big way."

3. For the high-action "train sequence," Snyder used hundreds of shots to look like one, which took seven days to shoot.
"[The train sequence] is a sequence that's broken up into maybe 120 shots that look like one shot," Snyder explained. "So you just kind of have to know where the cameras are going and knowing where it came from, and put these little camera moves in and all these shifts that have to happen. ... You shoot one angle and then you shoot the other angle and then it's going to be stitched with the CG section. So you have to know what you're capable of," he said. "How far you can push the CG stitch so it doesn't break the shot. There's a whole bunch of things like that."

4. Everyone in the cast is wearing a ton of makeup.
Even for Oscar Isaac, who plays creepy institution overlord Blue Jones and has the privilege of being one of the only men in the cast, the makeup process was extensive.

"I remember they would spray-tan me and then put an extra coat of shine on it," he recalled. "Then blush and then tons of eyeliner. My hair was basically glued tight to my head."

But compared to what the ladies endured, Isaac's process wasn't that bad. Carla Gugino told us the filmmakers wanted the makeup to make a statement, and that she spent at least two hours in the makeup chair every morning.

"We definitely had so much fun," Gugino said. "Rosalina [Da Silva] designed the look of the film makeup-wise. And we did 'Watchmen' together as well," she explained. "She's amazing. But there was a point when she said, 'Carla, guess how many sets of lashes you have on your eyes?' and I was like, 'Including my real ones?' and she was like, 'Yes.' And we realized that it was four."

5. Snyder had to cut back on the violence in the movie, particularly a few scenes that involve implied or attempted rape.
"Those [scenes] of course got trimmed away," he said. "It's really delicate because even that subject matter, you have the harder version that is sometimes better because it actually makes the point a little bit more directly. The PG-13 version was difficult for me," he revealed. "I would say that the very things that they didn't like were the very things that you needed to see in order for you to understand the content of the scene. You know, to know how to feel about it, because otherwise you're sort of left in this weird middle ground," he said. "So it's difficult. It's tricky."

Snyder went on to explain why the sexual violence and lobotomy images were necessary to include in the film, juxtaposed with the idea of women not being victims and being able to defend themselves.

"For me it was all about having incredible threat in that world. Like, what is the most dangerous thing? What is the worst possible thing, and to me being lobotomized and then raped is probably the worst possible thing," he explained. "I like the idea that the verdict or the ... like if someone were to make a sacrifice, and you have two alternatives and one is just go back to jail. OK. You know, I get that. And one is you know, be lobotomized and then possibly raped for the rest of your zombified life. You know, you really need to think about that. You're giving up a lot, I guess, is my point."

Jamie Foxx And will.i.am Bring 'Hot Wings' To 'American Idol'

Drum line and colorfully dressed dancers bring 'Rio' song to life on 'Idol' stage.

Jamie Foxx and will.i.am brought their "Hot Wings" to "American Idol" on Thursday (March 31).

The pair teamed up to perform their new single from the soundtrack to "Rio," the computer-animated flight tale in which they both voice characters. And they didn't come alone: They performed with a 12-member drum line and a full team of colorfully dressed dancers, while footage from "Rio" played on the video screens behind them.

Neither Foxx nor will.i.am are strangers to "Idol." Foxx was a mentor to the contestants in seasons eight and nine and also performed on the show during season eight, while will did "Just Can't Get Enough" with the Black Eyed Peas on the show just two weeks ago and also performed on the "Idol" stage with the Peas in seasons eight and nine. They both clearly know their way around the place by now and were comfortable shouting out the judges ("I see you, Randy!") mid-song.

The song is built around the repeated refrain "I wanna party, I wanna samba" and finds Foxx and will.i.am trading verses, in character as their "Rio" likenesses (Foxx plays Nico, a canary, while will.i.am plays a cardinal named Pedro). They entered the stage together via the "Idol" staircase, and Foxx — dressed in a black suit and dark shades — opened the song. Mr. i.am — dressed in a white jacket, red shirt and porkpie hat — chimed in during the second verse, rapping about ghetto blasters and speedy dance moves. The album version of the song also features the pair's "Rio" co-star Anne Hathaway, though the Oscar host was not in the Idoldome for the taping.

The performance featured elaborate choreography among the dancers (captured by the "Idol" crew via overhead cameras) and staged fighting on the side stage. At the performance's close, Foxx plugged "Rio" as "fun for the whole family."

The film hits theaters April 15, and the soundtrack — which is already available for download on iTunes — is due in stores Tuesday.

Young Dose knows keeping good company can be beneficial to your rap career. The ATL rapper's Big Play Entertainment company hooked up with DJ Clue's Desert Storm to help bolster the rep he was growing back home with the goal of taking his music national.

The alliance reaped immediate benefits with "Where Dey Do That At," which came to feature contributions by Rick Ross and another Clue affiliate, Fabolous. Mixtape Daily caught up with Dose as he dropped some insight into a couple of songs from his latest mixtape, No Days Off, with DJ Teknikz.

"Why I call it No Days Off, because we on a nonstop grind every day," Dose said. "We out here working 365 — 366 on a leap year — we out here."

On "Benjamins to Lean On," Dose offers a lyrical glimpse into his rap life. "It's basically showing y'all how we splurge," Dose said. "How we living in the skyscrapers. How we buying the finest of the coupes and blowing this paper, basically."

The other track Dose made sure to spotlight was "Ain't Doin' It Right," which features his big homey Gucci Mane. "It's basically talking about how y'all ain't doing it right out here," Dose said.

Other artists that Dose worked with on No Days Off include Waka Flocka Flame, Wale, Yung Joc and Soulja Boy Tell'em. Also appearing on the mixtape is fellow Big Play Entertainment rapper YC, whose "Racks," featuring Future, is huge hit in the South. YC recently signed a record deal with Universal Republic Records.

Thor Gets Tased In Exclusive New Clip

Natalie Portman encounters Chris Hemsworth for the first time in this sneak peek.

Attention "Thor" fans! By the good graces of otherworldly Asgard, Paramount Pictures has gifted MTV News with an exclusive new clip from the upcoming and highly anticipated "Thor."

For those who've been watching and re-watching the trailers, the featured scene will be slightly familiar. The clip opens with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), Professor Andrews (Stellan Skarsgård) and Darcy (Kat Dennings) rushing to the aid of recently banished/crash-landed Thor (Chris Hemsworth).

"Get the first aid kit!" Foster yells, as she runs to the side of the fallen God of Thunder. "Do me a favor, and don't be dead," she says to him.

"Whoa, does he need CPR?" Darcy asks after seeing Thor's chiseled face. "Because I totally know CPR."

"Where did he come from?" Foster wonders aloud. Thor then grunts as he stands up too quickly, still shaken from his fall. He starts to call out for his lost weapon: "Hammer? Hammer?"

"Yeah, we can tell you're hammered," Darcy quips while watching him stumble around the clearing. "It's pretty obvious."

"Oh my God! Eric, look at this!" Foster exclaims suddenly, pointing to the unique, circular pattern formed in the dirt surrounding the area where they found Thor. "We have to move quickly before this all changes."

"Jane, we have to take him to the hospital," Andrews says, while Thor calls out to his father, Odin (Anthony Hopkins), in the background.

"He's fine, look at him," Foster says to Andrews, still crouching at the ground, trying to examine the pattern in the soil.

After receiving no response from his father, Thor starts to get more lucid, haughtily demanding answers about where he is: "What realm is this?" he demands.

"New Mexico," Darcy answers, her flashlight and taser gun pointed right at him.

"You dare threaten me?" Thor warns. "With so puny an..."

Darcy then shoots a taser into him, making him fall back to the ground, much to the astonishment and disbelief of Foster and Andrews.

"What?" Darcy asks innocently, as if her use of the taser was perfectly logical. "He was freaking me out!"
