Oscars 2011: Our 5 Favorite Moments!

We'll admit there were some disappointing moments during last night's 83rd Annual Academy Awards (we would have really loved to see "True Grit" star Hailee Steinfeld take home the Best Supporting Actress Oscar!), but there were lots of reasons we're glad we tuned in for Hollywood's biggest night too.
From "Black Swan" actress Natalie Portman's [...]

Lindsay Lohan Returns To Acting In Post-Oscars Jimmy Kimmel Bit

Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Alba, Minka Kelly, Jessica Biel and Sofia Vergara also pitch in for Kimmel's fake 'Humpilates' infomercial.

It's been a while since we've seen Lindsay Lohan on a screen — big or small — when it wasn't connected to one of the troubled starlet's legal entanglements. But on Sunday night, after the 83rd annual Academy Awards ceremony, Lohan made her first TV appearance in ages in an infomercial spoof on the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" show.

And she kind of nailed it. Lohan, who is still awaiting word on whether she'll face some jail time over the alleged theft of a $2,500 necklace, joined a jaw-dropping list of Hollywood beauties who helped Kimmel shill for a fake celebrity workout tape called "Hottie Body Humpilates."

"Here in Hollywood, being in shape is more important than being alive," Kimmel said during an introduction to his unique fitness regimen. After scanning past a bevy of toned female bodies, a voiceover asked, "Who trains the most beautiful actresses in the world?," The camera then falls on Kimmel, who responded, "I do, I'm Jimmy K. Let's get to work!"

That was followed by the unfortunate site of Kimmel's bare bottom in a thong unitard and a series of fake talk-show appearances by the celebrity workout king. Scarlett Johansson, wearing a "HoBo" T-shirt, then sauntered out while looking directly at the camera longingly and embracing Kimmel, staring into his eyes with love as he explained the wonders of his hip-thrusting, exercise-ball-humping method.

Lohan showed up near the end of the clip to help Kimmel sell some DVDs. Standing next to a rare yellow lion named Zion, which Kimmel claimed could take down an animal 10 times his size, the host asked, "So how does he find time to stay in such great shape?"

"Not with weights or diet drinks, I'll tell you that," chimed in a smiling Lohan. "Lions spend their days hunting and their nights humping," she continued, as she holds Kimmel's hand and walks around the ferocious beast.

"Lions hump upwards of 40 times a night. I've spent thousands of hours watching them, so I know," Lohan added while giving Jimmy a longing, knowing look, followed by a kiss on his hand.

"The Jimmy K program is so affordable, it's practically a steal," Kimmel said at the end of the bit. "Allegedly," Lohan piped in comically, crossing her arms and giving Jimmy a withering look.

Lohan was just one of the famous beauties who appeared in the segment. ScarJo's testimonial was followed by similarly gushing tributes from Minka Kelly (who apparently used to be a big, big fattie), Jessica Biel (who only hopes to be in good enough shape to lure Kimmel into wanting to bed her), Kelly Ripa and Jessica Alba (who was apparently sluggish and out of shape and cried a lot before becoming a "HoBo").

The segment showed the ladies all demonstrating Kimmel's ball-humping method during a class, as he urged them on while wearing a revealing red leotard and purple Speedo bikini.

"That's good humping, girls ... hump it up, hump it down, take a train to humpy town!" he said. Eva Longoria, Sofia Vergara and Emily Blunt also stopped by to sing the praises of "humpercize." And we think Vergara (apparently a disgusting hippopotamus before starting "HoBo") had good things to say about the method, but it was kind of hard to tell with that accent and all.

Lohan is due back in court on March 10 and the judge in her case has instructed attorneys on both sides to meet and discuss the possibility of accepting the plea in the meantime.

What did you think of Kimmel's over-the-top infomercial? Let us know in the comments.

Natalie Portman Blasts John Galliano

She?s the face of Christian Dior fragrance, but Natalie Portman wants nothing to do with John Galliano ever since he made some anti-Semitic statements

The ?Black Swan? actress commented on an amateur video that hit the internet yesterday showing John, who appeared to be drunk, saying ?I love Hitler.?

Natalie declared, "I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano's comments that surfaced today. In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way.?

?I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful."

'Gnomeo & Juliet' Tops Weekend Box Office

Nicolas Cage's 'Drive Angry 3D' crashes and burns at #9.
By Ryan J. Downey

Some folks thought a 3-D retelling of a Shakespearean classic starring computer-generated garden gnomes in the title roles and backed by the music of Sir Elton John wouldn't work. But the joke is on them.

"Gnomeo & Juliet" was the #1 movie at the box office over the weekend, besting newcomers "Hall Pass" and the underperforming "Drive Angry 3D." Nobody is happier than the film's executive producer.

"We never thought we'd be going to our own Oscar party having a #1 movie," John told MTV News on the red carpet for his 19th annual Academy Awards viewing party at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles, which benefits his Elton John AIDS Foundation.

"We are over the moon," added his husband, David Furnish, who is also a producer on the Disney film, which features the voice talents of James McAvoy ("Atonement"), Emily Blunt ("The Devil Wears Prada"), Michael Caine ("The Dark Knight"), Jason Statham ("The Transporter"), Ashley Jensen ("Extras") and Ozzy Osbourne, among others.

In its third week of release, "Gnomeo & Juliet" took in $14.2 million for a total haul of $75.1 million, according to studio estimates. "Movies don't usually do 3, 2, 1," John pointed out. "They usually go 1, 8, 12.

"We really fought hard to get this movie made," he continued. "There were a lot of people who fought against us making this movie within the organization that we made it with. And we're so glad to have the last laugh."

"Hall Pass," the new comedy from writer/directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly ("There's Something About Mary"), debuted at #2 with $13.4 million over a weekend down 21 percent overall from the same time last year. Owen Wilson ("Wedding Crashers") and Jason Sudeikis ("Saturday Night Live") play a pair of married men whose wives, played by Jenna Fischer ("The Office") and Christina Applegate ("Anchorman"), give them permission to cheat for one week.

The movie's opening isn't strong, but it's far from the crash and burn of the latest action vehicle for Nicolas Cage. With a production budget estimated between $45 and $50 million, "Drive Angry 3D" was a bomb, taking in just $5.1 million in its first weekend of release to land at #9. That's roughly half the opening weekend of his critically reviled "Season of the Witch," which has earned less than $25 million domestically since it was released in early January.

Last week's #1 movie, "Unknown," starring Liam Neeson ("Taken"), was #3 at the box office with $12.4 million in its second weekend for a total domestic take of $42.8 million. The Adam Sandler/ Jennifer Aniston romantic comedy "Just Go With It" was #4 with $11.1 million in its third weekend for a $79.4 million total.

Young-adult-oriented franchise wannabe "I Am Number Four" took in $11 million in its second weekend to land at #5, for a $37.7 million total, which is right around the film's estimated budget. "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" was just behind with $9.2 million for a $62.7 million gross bolstered by special ticket packages when it debuted.

Newly minted Best Picture winner "The King's Speech" was #7 with $7.6 million for a $114.5 million total in 14 weeks of release. The drama earned four statues at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, including Best Director (Tom Hooper), Best Actor (Colin Firth), Best Original Screenplay and Best Picture.

"Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son," which seems unlikely to earn many awards, was #8 with $7.5 million for a two-week total of $28.5 million — far from the success of the Martin Lawrence series' two previous installments.

With a spectacularly low 6 percent critical average on Rotten Tomatoes, "The Roommate" hung in the top ten with another $2 million in box-office receipts. Starring Leighton Meester ("Gossip Girl") and Minka Kelly ("Friday Night Lights"), the movie has earned $35.9 million dollars in four weeks of release.

Check out everything we've got on "Gnomeo & Juliet" and "Hall Pass."

Chris Medina Calls Post-'American Idol' Single 'Heartfelt'

'He was really good in the studio,' producer Rodney Jerkins recalls of recording 'What Are Words.'

While Chris Medina's exit from "American Idol" is still a shock to many fans, the fact that the early favorite has already lined up his first post-"Idol" project (by way of super-producer Rodney Jerkins and the single "What Are Words") should alleviate the burn.

MTV News was lucky enough to catch up with both Medina and Jerkins recently to get the inside scoop on the heartfelt track.

"I always knew who Rodney Jerkins was, but after doing some research, I didn't realize how 'the man' he actually was," Medina explained of his reaction to getting a phone call two days after his unexpected elimination. "I got a call on Friday and then that Monday I recorded," he said. "It was surreal. It was great."

Medina went on to say that while the song isn't technically his style, it's not entirely out of his "wheelhouse."

"The words totally embody what my situation is," he said. "It's heartfelt, it's real, and it was an honor to be asked to put my voice to this wonderful material."

For his part, Jerkins, who was inspired to write the song after seeing Medina's first audition, said the 26-year-old was a total pro during their recording session.

"He was really good in the studio," Jerkins said. "That's always the fearful moment for myself as a producer. The first time you work with a new artist [you wonder], 'What is it going to sound like when you get in the studio?'

"[Medina] came in here and he listened to it one time down and then he was like, 'I think I got it.' He started singing it for us in the room, and we were just floored," Jerkins recalled. "Like, 'Wow,' he learned it that fast. I'm like, 'OK, it's time for you to get in the booth.' He was great."

Regarding the higher vocals Medina uses in the track, Jerkins said that is all about his technique of challenging his artists.

"A lot of technology has made it where we don't push the artist like we used to," he said. "I'm a '90s guy. I come from the school of the '90s, where you didn't have Auto-Tune, we didn't have the tricks of technology. You had to get in there and work the artist and get the best out of them, and that's what we did."

Oscar Night Gets Mixed Reviews From Celebrities

At the Vanity Fair party, Stewie Griffin, Russell Brand, Jimmy Kimmel and others weigh in on their favorite moments.

After weeks of buildup, not-so-subtle campaigns by major studios, prognosticating by critics and award season pundits, etc, the 2011 class of Oscar winners were announced on Sunday night in a predictably lengthy and star-studded telecast.

While the big stories of the night always revolve around who/what won (answer: "The King's Speech," Natalie Portman, Colin Firth, Christian Bale and Melissa Leo), when MTV News hit up the extra-exclusive hot-ticket post-Oscar Vanity Fair bash, we found there was an equal amount of buzz about the performances of first-time hosts Anne Hathaway and James Franco, as well as reactions to the overall show itself. And the reviews of which were decidedly mixed.

"It was great!" "Glee" star Jane Lynch exclaimed. "I loved the opening number and thought James and Anne played off each other well."

"Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane's review, which we asked him to deliver in character Stewie Griffin wasn't quite as rosy.

"Let's see, I was disappointed that Hugh Jackman didn't sing that song," MacFarlane said in Stewie's haughty faux-British accent, recalling the moment in the show when Hathaway sang a song blaming Jackman for bailing on a supposed duet. "That was dreadful that he backed out on that poor girl like that. What a wicked man.

"Was that was what was supposed to happen? Was that for real? " MacFarlane continued, speaking as himself. "There was a lot of really uncomfortable moments, like things were kind of half-formed, you know?"

Awkward-moment master Russell Brand, who presented the award for best foreign language film with his "Arthur" co-star Helen Mirren, didn't seem to notice anything uncomfortable.

"It was wonderful," he said of the show. "I'm happy that 'The King's Speech' did well."

When asked what he thought were the funniest moments, whether intentional or not, Brand pleaded the fifth.

"I don't know. I don't judge other people because I'm spiritual," he quipped.

On the other hand, Jimmy Kimmel, who readily admitted that he prefers his awards shows full of weird moments or unplanned disasters, had no problem passing judgment on the 83rd annual telecast.

"I think Kirk Douglas was funny," he said, speaking of the 94-year-old actor's charming, but slightly drawn-out, presentation of the Best Supporting Actress trophy. "I guarantee he planned to do that."

Kimmel's pick for unintentional funny moment went to Best Supporting Actress winner Melissa Leo dropping an F-bomb mid-acceptance speech before taking Douglas' cane from him to steady herself as they walked away from the podium.

What was your favorite moment of the night? How did Anne Hathaway and James Franco do as hosts? Tell us in the comments!
