It would have been an upset even bigger than Shad showing up Drake in the Rap
Recording category (which he described with a brilliant 'Cosby Show' reference
as "an Emmy going to Theo's friend Cockroach') if multi-award-winning indie
heroes Arcade Fire didn't grab Alternative Album of the Year at the Junos gala
and award dinner tonight [March 26] in Toronto.
Beating out multi-nominees Broken Social Scene (who picked up a best packaging
prize), Karkwa (the Polaris Prize-winners who walked away with Francophone
Album of the Year earlier in the evening), inaugural Polaris winner and quasi-
Arcade Fire member Owen Pallett and Tokyo Police Club, the Montreal collective
and their titan of an album, 'The Suburbs,' received much-deserved recognition
in their homeland.
"So this means we're not adults yet...Yay!" exclaimed Win Butler, kidding
about the Adult Alternative category won by Neil Young earlier in the night.
"We're so thankful for Owen Pallet, who made such an amazing record and does
all our string arrangements, and Broken Social Scene, who we opened for a
